Data Management Plans

We will use the tool DMPTool to create high-quality DMPs that meet the requirements of the lab, NMSU, and grant funding agencies. To create a plan:

1. Go to DMPTool and log in or create an account with your NMSU Email.
2. Click the name of the research under “What research project are you planning?”
3. Click the checkbox where it says “mock project for testing, practice, or educational purposes”
4. Under “Select the primary research organization” select New Mexico State University
5. Click the checkbox “No funder associated with this plan or my funder is not listed”
6. Click “Create Plan”
7. A new page will open and on the right side you will see “Select Guidance”
8. Click on see full list and select: a) DMPTool, b) Harvard University, and c) University of Michigan.

Is impossible for me to write here everything that should be in a DMP. However here is some additional guidance for each of the sections DMPTool will ask you to fill out. And remember any questions you have, you can always come to me or a more senior students. Finally, DMP need to be signed off by me before they are downloaded and included in our data folders, so don’t stress about possible mistakes as I will help you find them and correct them.
